Happy Mother’s Day! Take the day off from Lenten deprivations and bake a cake for your dear old mum!
Nowadays Mother’s Day is celebrated on different dates around the world, usually in March, April, or May as a day to honor mothers and motherhood. In the UK and Ireland, it follows the old traditions of Mothering Sunday and is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent. This Sunday is also known as Refreshment Sunday, when the strict rules on forbidden pleasures during Lent can be relaxed.
